Cancelling and deleting your account
Cancelling and deleting your account
Section titled “Cancelling and deleting your account”Cancelling a paid subscription and deleting your account are two separate actions:
- Cancelling a subscription stops future billing. Your account and files stay.
- Deleting your account removes your account and your data after a 30-day waiting period.
Cancelling a paid subscription
Section titled “Cancelling a paid subscription”To cancel a paid plan, email support@gevell.com from the address on your account and ask us to cancel. We process the request for you.
Per our Refund & Cancellation Policy:
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access through the period you have already paid for.
- Cancelling stops future billing. It does not reverse past charges.
- If you cancel an annual plan early, auto-renewal is cancelled and the remaining paid period is not refunded by default. You can ask support about a pro-rata refund of unused full months, which we handle case by case.
For what can be refunded, see Refunds.
Deleting your account
Section titled “Deleting your account”- Open Settings from your avatar menu. The General tab opens first.
- Scroll to Delete account and choose Delete my account….
- Type your email address exactly as it appears on the account to confirm. You can optionally tell us why you are leaving.
- Choose Delete my account.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”- You are signed out right away, and you can’t sign in while the deletion is pending.
- Your API keys stop working.
- Any paid subscription is cancelled immediately, so billing stops. Restoring the account does not bring the subscription back.
- We email you a link to restore the account. The link works until the deletion date.
- After 30 days, your files, conversions, preferences, history, and any remaining balance are permanently deleted.
- Billing records we are legally required to keep are retained but anonymized. Support tickets are kept for a limited time with personal identifiers minimized. The full schedule is in our Data Retention Policy.
- Backups are rotated on a fixed schedule, so a deleted document leaves our backups within 31 days after it is deleted.
Download anything you want to keep before you start. Once the 30 days pass, deleted files can’t be recovered.
Changing your mind: restoring your account
Section titled “Changing your mind: restoring your account”During the 30-day window, click Restore my account in the email we sent you. Your account is reactivated and you can sign in again.
If you can’t find the email, check your spam folder, then contact support from the email address on the account before the 30 days are up.
If you request deletion again during the window, the original deletion date stays in place and we resend the email.
Before you delete
Section titled “Before you delete”- A paid subscription is cancelled as soon as you request deletion. You don’t need to cancel it first. The account returns to the free tier if you restore it.
- Unused balance or a recent purchase? Your balance is forfeited when the account is deleted, unless you have it refunded first, so contact support before you delete. Refunds are limited to conversions from the last 7 days that you haven’t downloaded (see Refunds).
- Want specific files gone, not the whole account? Delete them from the dashboard, or write to privacy@gevell.com for broader deletion requests.
