Controlling costs

This page explains how you are charged for Gevell PDF and the tools you have to keep spending under control. For the screen-by-screen steps for limits, alerts, and purchases, see Billing & credits.

  • You pay per page. The standard rate is $1.00 per page. Plans with higher volume pay less per page; current plans and rates are on the pricing section of pdf.gevell.com.
  • One flat rate. High-fidelity conversion, form fields, and premium forms all bill at the same per-page rate. Adding the fillable Accessible Form to a document that contains form fields is included at no additional cost.
  • You are charged when the conversion completes, not when you upload.
  • Pages that fail are not charged. If only some pages of a document could be converted, the file’s row on the dashboard says which pages failed and that they were not charged.
  • Your balance is shown in dollars. Usage draws it down. Where the app talks about credits for limits and history, one credit is one page.

New accounts get a $10 welcome balance, which covers your first 10 pages at the standard rate. No credit card is required to start. When the balance is used up, new conversions are blocked until you add funds, and a Not enough balance dialog shows what is needed.

Open Settings from your avatar menu and choose the Billing & Credits tab:

  • Usage Balance — what you have left, in dollars.
  • Usage meters — your daily and monthly usage against any limits you have set. The meters turn amber at 80% and red at 100%.
  • Recent Transactions — every purchase, usage charge, grant, and refund, with the running balance after each.

The dashboard itself does not show your balance.

  1. Review before you convert. Turn off Auto-convert on upload on the dashboard. New files then wait for you, and you can see the estimated cost of each document before you start it.
  2. Cap the size of a single job. Set Max Pages per Document in your spend limits so an unexpectedly large file is rejected instead of draining your balance.
  3. Set daily and monthly limits. Credit limits and dollar budgets block conversions once you reach them. If an administrator has set limits on your account, the lower value applies.
  4. Add budget alerts. Get an email when usage reaches a percentage of your limit, such as 80%.
  5. Check before you download. If a result isn’t usable, you can preview it and request a refund before you download.
  6. Use higher-volume plans if you convert regularly. The per-page rate drops on larger plans.
  • Buying funds. In Billing & Credits, choose Buy Now on a package. Payment is handled in a secure Stripe checkout, and your balance is updated as soon as payment completes. If you close the checkout without paying, you are not charged.
  • Monthly plans. Some plans are billed monthly through the same Stripe checkout.
  • Taxes. Tax-exempt organizations can submit their exemption in the Tax Exemption section of the Billing & Credits tab.
  • Failed payments. If a recurring payment fails, we retry for up to 10 days and the account stays active during that time. See the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
  • Cancelling or getting money back. See Refunds and Cancelling and deleting your account.
